Today's Dirt is presented by [Sponsor].
That line — one presenting sponsor per newsletter edition, plus clearly labeled website sponsor placements — is our launch model. Editorial stays independent: sponsorship never buys coverage, removal of a story, or a positive word.
Founding Sponsor Pilot
Sold only once a real publishing cadence and an initial audience exist.
| Price (test) | $300–$500 for the four-week pilot |
|---|---|
| Newsletter inventory | Four weekly newsletter sponsor placements (one presenting slot per edition, four editions) |
| Website inventory | One clearly labeled sponsor placement on the website for that month |
| Scope, explicit | Four placements does not mean daily sponsorship for an entire month. |
| Reporting | Actual deliveries, clicks, and website impressions — reported as measured. No promised sales, no invented reach. |
Planning arithmetic (an experiment, not a guarantee): two sponsors at $400/month = $800 gross monthly — with distinct placements; both sponsors never get promised the same exclusive presenting slot. Once readership supports it, we will test $750–$1,500 monthly packages based on performance and demand. Those are pricing hypotheses, not proven market rates.
Good-fit categories: local events, entertainment, apparel, consumer brands, and other credible businesses comfortable with an outspoken publication. Every sponsor is screened; conflicts with editorial coverage are flagged to the editor before any agreement.

Coming Later: Dirt Insider
A possible $5/month ($50/year) membership — weekly deep dives, searchable curated collections, ad-light reading — will be validated with an interest list before any paywall exists. Illustrative math only: 200 members × $5 = $1,000 gross monthly before fees, taxes, churn, and reporting costs. That is not a forecast. Corrections and case outcomes stay free forever.
