What the Inspector Found

Tulum Tacos Restaurant Corp, at 5052 N. Dixie Highway in Oakland Park, was ordered to stop operations during a routine Florida DBPR inspection on October 28, 2026. The result recorded on the official report: Facility Temporarily Closed — operations ordered stopped until violations are corrected.

Inspectors cited 17 violations — 10 of them high priority, the class DBPR defines as able to contribute directly to foodborne illness. The rodent finding ran through three areas of the kitchen: approximately 18 droppings throughout the kitchen floors under coolers and cooking equipment, approximately 40 in the storage and prep area under shelving and the prep table, and approximately 20 in the water heater area.

A stop sale was issued on food held in the reach-in cooler: cooked octopus at 55 degrees, tuna at 50, cream cheese at 49, raw shrimp and raw steak at 47 — all above the 41-degree limit and, per the report, held in the cooler overnight. Inspectors also found approximately 10 flying insects inside a container of chile guajillo, a can of primer paint stored on a top shelf with single-use cups, and a container of Advil in a rack next to cocktail drink mix.

Every finding in this story is quoted from the official DBPR inspection report — the receipts are linked below. Any response from the business will be published with this story, in full.
