What the Inspector Found

Cafe Ruyi, at 5300 NW 7th Avenue in Miami's Liberty City, was ordered to stop operations during a routine Florida DBPR inspection on October 29, 2026. The result recorded on the official report: Facility Temporarily Closed — operations ordered stopped until violations are corrected.

Inspectors cited 16 violations — 3 of them high priority, the class DBPR defines as able to contribute directly to foodborne illness. The roach finding ran through the kitchen: 2 live roaches on and under styrofoam to-go trays at the prep table shelf, approximately 10 or more live roaches crawling under shelves above the flip-top prep cooler at the cook line, and 1 live roach on the floor in front of the walk-in cooler. Rodent droppings were found at the front counter point-of-sale area — approximately 20 or more on the floor under the table where canned sodas are stored — and 6 more under shelves in the dry storage area.

The third high-priority citation: the establishment was observed preparing, serving, or selling food to customers while operating with an expired Division of Hotels and Restaurants license. The report also records four repeat violations — soiled gaskets, rust-pitted walk-in cooler shelves, a grease-soiled kitchen wall, and cooked chicken, pork and rice held more than 24 hours without date marks.

The Dirt first listed Cafe Ruyi in yesterday's closures roundup; the full inspection report is today's crown. Every finding in this story is quoted from the official DBPR inspection report — the receipts are linked below. Any response from the business will be published with this story, in full.
